Goodbye 2012

Today is the last day of 2012.  2012 was one busy year, and has been filled with many different experiences.  Because of how busy the year was, I wasn't able to keep up with blogging about some of those experiences.  So with this post, I am just going to list things I have attended that I wasn't able to blog about, but wanted to keep a record of the things I have done.   For the month of August, I was at the 2012 State 4-H Leadership Conference at San Diego from Aug. 9 to 12.  August 17-19, I went with Scotty's family to their place at the Parker Strip of the Colorado River.  On Aug. 28, I went hiking with Jane and a few of her friends to Slushy Meadows in the San Gorgonio Wilderness in the San Bernardino National Forest.  The month of August ended with another trip to the river, from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.   In September, on the 30th, I was at Laguna Beach for Scotty's grandma's birthday.  Also attended a Mystery Dinner in Redlands on the 27th.   In October, two

A Day in Avalon on Catalina

Image
I turned 25 years old this month.  When my birthday comes around, it normally means nothing to big.  For the family, I choose any restaurant and we all go out to eat.  For the friends, we normally just hang out as usual.  This year, things were different.  I was bored at home as winter break started.  I have the tendency to have a major urge to travel and/or have some kind of adventure when at home bored.  At times I even look around on Google Maps to look at places I wish I could travel to.  That is when I thought of doing something different for my birthday.  Instead of asking for gifts, and going out to dinner; I chose to ask for a trip to a place that I have yet to travel to.  Santa Catalina Island.  I told my mom and she seemed interested.  My dad did like the idea, but he was worried about how much it would cost.  In the end, we went to Avalon, the only city on the island, on December 22.  One week after my birthday on the 15th.  Why?  My dad had to work on my birthday weeke

Car Hit by Old Lady

This morning, while my mom and I were leaving our Walmart, an old lady hit the bumper of my car. It was just a small hit, and it could of been a lot worse if we were not there to see her hit the car. We went shopping for a few items, and I had to drive because my mom's car battery dead. After we checked out, and was walking to my car, a person in a new Catilac started to turn to park next to my car. Instead of making a wide turn I to the parking spot, the person took a narrow turn to park. As the car was turning, we noticed it was an old lady, and we knew she wasn't going to make it. She realized that she wasn't going to make it. She pulled out of the spot in attempts to fix the error. She had failed. She started to pull back into the parking spot, but at a steaper angle. My mom said she was going to hit my car. I had faith that she would notice the issue and fix it. A few moments later, we heard a small noise and my car shaking. She hit my back bumper on the

A Quarter of a Century

As of today, I have lived a quarter of a century.  I turn 25 years old.  Is my life where I expected it at this point of time?  Nope.  In reality, how many people are in the place they expected at a certain age?  If you would of asked be at age 18, when I had graduated high school, where I see myself at the age 25, my answer would be quite different from how my life is today.      At the time of graduating high school, I would say that at the age of 25, I would be newly out of college, getting into the career that I dreamed of, living on my own with my best friends as my roommates, being a 4-H volunteer and having quite a few awesome adventures.  If you follow my blog posts or know where I currently am, I believe my 18 year old self would be disappointed.  I am still in college, with no true answer to when I will be graduating, still living with my parents, and currently have no job.  I do have some many adventures and I am a 4-H leader, so those things are true.  The big questi

2012 State Leaders' Forum at Asilomar

Image
It is that time of year again, where I travel down up to Asilomar Conference Grounds and State Beach at Pacific Grove on the Monterey Peninsula for the 2012 California 4-H State Leaders' Forum.  This year I am going once again as the Team Logistics Leader for the California 4-H Technology Leadership Team (TLT) and as the Secretary to the CA 4-H South Section Leaders' Council.  The forum happened from Friday, Nov. 9 to 11, 2012.   Friday, November 9, 2012 This year, I flew up to San Jose, and let our TLT adviser, Steven, pick me up.  I arrived at the San Jose Airport at 10:00.  Neal, a TLT member from San Diego, had arrived a little sooner than me, and was waiting for me at the baggage claim.  I met up with him, and we waiting for our ride.  A local TLT member, Matthew, was dropped off at the airport to meet us, so he could also join in our ride down to Asilomar.  He were picked up by Steven.  Daniel, a TLT member and someone I consider a close friend, was with him

Hormones are driving me insane

Warning:  This post contains adult situations.  If you are uncomfortable reading about my thoughts, which can include my personal sexual thoughts, along with adult language; do not read this post.  This was written to help ease my mind.    Is it bad to be a college student who will be turning 25 years old in just a little bit less than two months who is still a virgin?  Who makes that decision over what is right?  Is it biology? Is it my personal beliefs? Is it what society and/or my peers who say if it is bad?  I feel that I have been in a constant battle with my hormones raging out of control, what I feel is the right thing to do, and how I see my peers treating the subject of sexual life.  This has been stuck in my head all day, because of events that occurred last night.              Scotty's brother, Bryan and his wife Randi, held a Halloween Party at their house last night.  I had gone there, and had a great time.  I have defiantly had some pressure last night in the area

Beach Trip That Went Wrong

2012 Summer Series: Blog postings of my summer experiences of 2012.  I had become busy enough to not have time to write about most of my summer until now.  The blogs wont be in full details like other years, and mainly because of my lack of time to write.  Most my time is focused on school. Prologue:  The night before, I was at the birthday party of Randi (Scotty's Brother Bryan's Wife), and was texting Jane about going with her down to meet up with Jessica and Twig at the beach.  We had planned to meet at Huntington Beach, and that Jane and I would leave from the IE at 11 am.  After having a good time in San Diego, then a nice party with friends this night, adding a beach trip would just make the week even more awesome, since the week had started off bad with the Heart Rock Hike. July 29, 2012 In the morning, things seemed to start out just right.  Woke up and got ready with the excited feeling of going to the beach.  Drove to Jane's house in San Timoteo Canyon, and

July 27-28, 2012 My parents, sister, and I had traveled down to San Diego for a over night trip.  On the 28th, we went to the San Diego Zoo.  It seemed to be a normal day at the zoo.  A little more crowded that I would have liked, but it wasn't bad.  Being in the cooler weather of San Diego was the best part of being at the zoo, other than seeing the Panda's, which are my favorite animals at the zoo.  After walking around for quite a while, I felt we needed a break, and it was lunch time.  The parents agreed to eat at the nice sit down restaurant located near the Gorillas.  It was a nice change for once.  After the zoo, we had went to our favorite Mexican Restaurant in Old Town, called C

Unenjoyable Heart Rock Hike & Lake Arrowhead Trip

July 25, 2012 After having a 15 day stretch of traveling in the summer, things had slowed down. As I start to stay home, I get bored and dream of traveling. I start to get a little crazy at times. I have been hanging out with Jane and old acquaintances from High School; Jessica and John (known as twig). Jane and I had the urge to go up to the mountains, and had invited Jessica and twig to come along. The plan was to hike to Heart Rock, enjoy some lunch and being in nature, then possibly head to Lake Arrowhead Village. For me, Heart Rock was going to be the highlight of the trip. Hiking through the forest, listening to the sounds of Seeley Creek, and go swimming while having good times. O

Texas 4-H Congress--July 15-18, 2012      I had the opportunity to represent the California 4-H Technology Leadership Team (TLT) with an exchange we do with the Texas 4-H Technology Team again this year.  Unlike last year, the TLT would attend a different event, called Texas 4-H Congress.  This event took place at the Texas State Capitol Building in Austin.  Around 350 Texas 4-H Members would have the chance to run a mock legislative process at the Texas Capitol using the Texas House of Representatives and Senate Floors along with the committee hearing rooms.  Other than the Texas Capitol, the even took place at the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol.  For the TLT: Tanner, Joshua, Steven,

Quick Trip to Vancouver; Longest Trip Back Home

My cousin, Amanda, is currently in Afghanistan for the third time.  About one month ago, she had learned that her apartment rent was being increased by $300.00.  She had decided it was time to move out.  Her boyfriend, Jonathan, her mom, and I would be the ones to help move her out.  Because I was in Sacramento and San Diego the past 4 days, I wasn't able to fly up with my aunt.  The morning after my San Diego trip (mentioned in my last blog post), I flew on up to Portland to help them finish up the move. My flight took off at 6:40am.  Since I wasn't going to have any checked luggage, I planned to arrive at the airport at 5:40, which for Ontario is plenty of time to get through security.  When my sister dropped me off, and I walked inside of terminal 4, I was surprised to see one massive line to go up towards the security check point.  I have flown out of Ontario now well over 50 times, and I had never seen the security line this long before; especially this early in t
