Research Paper: Male and Female Circumcision in the United States

Male and Female Circumcision in the United States John Trammell California State University, San Bernardino      Why is infant circumcision socially acceptable for males, but considered mutilation for females in the United States?  Circumcision is the removal of the foreskin of the penis or the partial/full removal of the clitoral prepuce, the clitoris, and labia of the vagina (Schultheiss, 2010, p. 21, 23).  The foreskin aids in sexual pleasure, guard the glands from external harm, and provides natural lubricity that eases friction during intercourse (Gollaher, 2000, p. 111).  The clitoral prepuce protects the clitoris from external harm, the clitoris aids in sexual pleasure, and the labia protects the vaginal opening from external harm as well as keeps the internals moist (p. 111).  The removal of these tissues would cause both men and women to experience a decrease in sexual pleasure.  Women can become susceptible to disease and exp...

The Hell of Enrollement

I am deeply upset.  A week ago, I went through my education plan to see how many classes left I need to take in order to finally graduate.  Things seem real good!  For my major in Public Administration, I only need 4 more classes, and my minor in Environmental Studies only needs 2-3 classes.  I was excited.  Things had changed when enrollment for Spring 2014 quarter opened.  The availability of classes are terrible.  The majority of the classes I need are not being offered.  At first, the plan was good.  I was taking one class for Public Administration and two classes for Environmental Studies.  A few days later, when I go back to double check my classes, it seems that one of the Environmental Studies classes was canceled.  That pissed me off.  This morning, it was time for me to enroll.  I get logged into the online enrollment system, and noticed the second Environmental Studies class I neede...

In the Real Life?

One comment, which tends to be quite popular with the older adults, could be taken as an insult to us younger adults who are still working hard to get somewhere in the world.  This comment is, "When you are in the real life...".  Real life?  What is real life?  Based of those who make these type of comments must think that college students aren't in what they call life.  I fell this comment, or phrase, can be quite insulting depending on the person.   You might be asking what brought up this comment.  Winter break ends on Sunday, meaning that I return to school on Monday.  I had posted on facebook that my winter break was going to end with a bang with a trip to San Diego and South Lake Tahoe.  A friend of mine made a comment to enjoy it while it lasts, because in real life, I wont be able to have this type of fun often.  Right away, I felt a little offended, which rarely happens.  Yes, I live ...

Slowly Changing For The Better

Since I was in middle school, I had slowly gained weight.  Two things have been to blame for the reasons why I have gained weight.  The first, moving across town in March, 1999.  I had lost the friends I used to hang out with every single day, outside.  The internet wasn't big back then where we could keep in contact with our friends.  When I moved to where I am today, I had issues trying to fit into the kids in the new neighborhood.  As results, I ended up staying inside everyday, and resorting to Computers and Video Games for entertainment.  Along side with that, came bad eating habits, which is the second reasons I have gained weight. I start to think about how those bad habits came around, and have come to the conclusion that I just wasn't educated in proper eating habits.  The school system and my parents should have taken the time to get me on the right track.  By time high school came around, bad habits were in plac...
