Lent Begins

For those who don't know, I was raised a Roman Catholic.  Now I don't practice the majority of the Catholic religion today, but there are a few things that I do.  In the past few years, I have started back up in participating in lent in that I would give up something for lent.  Tend to eat fish on Friday for dinner, but still eat meat during the day.  The most successful lent for me to give something up was French Fries, which was two years ago.  This year, I wasn't too sure what to give up, until the thought came to me of something I seem to spend a good amount of free time doing instead of other, more important things.  Porn.

Yes, I will admit, I look at porn online.  To be honest, what college aged guy has not looked at porn?  Even the guys who say they don't, has or will look at porn.  It makes things so easy with having so much access to free porn online.  At the moment, I seem to look at porn at least once a day.  Why?  Not always for self sexual pleasure, but out of boredom.  There are many other things I can use that time for.  Ex: I am over weight.  I am sick and tired of it.  Instead of sitting at the computer bored and looking at porn, I can be outside being more active with walking, hiking, biking, eta.  My room is a disaster.  Could use that time to keep my room organized and clean.  In my opinion, porn isn't bad, but you can over do it, and I think I am on the borderline of overdoing it.  Most of my porn currently comes from a social media/blog site called tumblr and an adult video website called xtube.  Because of this, I have decided that it is time for a break, and lent is a great time to do it.

Lent starts today, and I will be giving up from looking at porn this year.  Compared to other things I have given up, this should be easier than other give ups.  I know that I will be able to go the entire lent without porn, and spend the time more wisely.  Other than giving up porn, I plan to not eat any red meat on Fridays and to eat fish for dinner.  I will give an update post on or the day after Easter to see how I did.  I feel this will be an easy success
