Plan Formulation and Execution

Since high school, my weight has been a struggle in my life, and in the past few years there have been attempts to begin losing.  Most had failed.  One major change that has been proven a major success occurred in January 2010, when I gave up drinking sodas and other drinks filled with Sugar while on a flight home from a trip to Lake Tahoe for 4-H.  At the time I quite drinking sodas, I weighted 265 pounds.  After giving up sodas, I knew I had to become more active.  In October 2010, I began walking 2.4 miles three times a week.  By time January 2011 came around, I was walking 3.0 miles almost every day of the week (excluding weekends).  Around April 2011, I had lost track and stopped walking.  In June, I began walking again three times a week, but kept losing track and not walking.  In August 2011, I went camping with two best friends in the Eastern Sierras.  In a 4 day period, we had hiked about 10-12 miles.  As I returned home from the trip, I needed a break from all the activi

2012 Memorial Day Weekend

I believe since 2004, I have spent my memorial day weekend traveling up to UC Davis for the California 4-H State Field Day.  Unlike the past few years, this year was a shorter trip.  This year, the trip was a three day trip.  Friday we drove up.  Saturday was the event, and Sunday we enjoyed ourselves for a little while before heading back home in the afternoon.        This year, we did not get on the road until around 12:30pm, which is way later than usual.  I had my math class that morning, and my sister Ashley had two classes.  I woke up early to drive her to school, chilled for an hour until my class started, then after class come home to pack.  My dad and I got my car packed, then headed on out to my school to pick my sister up.  From there, we stopped to have lunch at Del Taco, then hit the road.  My biggest fear was running into memorial day weekend traffic in the grapevine.  We did not run into any traffic the entire trip up.  Not even when getting into downtown Stockton

Vegas Weekend Getaway

On the weekend of May 11-13, my best friend Scotty and I traveled to Las Vegas for a weekend getaway. It was the first time I had been on the Vegas Strip since a family spring break vacation in 2000. Scotty is a thrill seeker, and he had always wanted to jump off the Stratoshpere and drive an exotic car on the Las Vegas Speedway. We were hanging out a few months before, and he had mentioned the trip. He asked if I was free. I took a look at my schedule, and low and behold it was the only free weekend for the month If May. I agreed to go. This short weekend getaway to sin city was something I needed with the many stresses of life happening. Normally I would write a blog in details of the trip, but I am just not feeling up to the task (mainly due to how busy I am with school work at the moment) so I will just give a nutshell of the trip, just to have a record of the trip in this blog. On Friday, Scotty and I had left around 4:30ish pm for Sin City.  Our biggest worry was havin

Looking in the mirror

It is currently 10:40 pm, and I am baking in my room. It is about 82 in my room while it is 73 outside. Of course to help cool me down, i strip down to my boxers. Why not take those off? Just incase someone happens to knock on the door and come in. I got bored at the computer so I went over to lay on my bed (where I am right now). It's too early for bed yet, so I start texting. In the between text time, thoughts just happen to go through my mind. Strangly, circumcision just popped up in there, but more of how my firends feel about it, and how they would react if I randly asked them about it. Other thoughts of everything I have to do this next week went through my head, along with dreams of future adventures. Now to the point of this post. Next to my bed is my closet. The closet has two rolling doors which have mirrors on them. I started looking at me from a side and man I have to say I feel like a fat ass. I really hate how I look :(. So jello like, and big. When I

RIP Gayle Champlin

I had learned, via facebook, that Gayle Champlin, a 4-H Volunteer from San Bernardino County passed away today.  She was one passionate 4-H volunteer who always cared about the youth of the program.  She was my County All-Star Adviser from 2002-2004.  She always had new and creative ideas to keep the 4-H program alive in San Bernardino.  It has been a great honor to have worked with her in the All-Star program, and she leaves behind a legacy that will be hard to fill.  She also left an amazing family.  My heart and prayers go to the family at this time of deep sorrow.
