Summer’s Last Trip-- Monterey Bay Area

From August 13-16, my friends, Scotty, Jane, Vanessa, and I took a road trip up to Monterey, California.  During the spring semester at school, while sitting at the cafe, we were in the mood to go to the beach, and an aquarium.  We decided to plan a trip to Monterey.  The perfect location for the beach and aquarium.

On Wednesday, we took the long 7 hour drive up to Monterey.  It took longer then it should of because we decided to drive up Highway 1, starting at San Louis Obispo.  It was a very nice drive, but didn't get to enjoy the view alot since the road was fogged in.  Luckly, the fog was passing over the road, so we can drive.  During the drive, we saw 3 Astin Martins, a few farrari's, and a Lambo.  After the nice, relaxing long drive, we finally arrived at our hotel room, in Salinas, which is about 15 miles east of Monterey.  It was the cheapest hotel that we can find in the area.  On Wednsday night, I took everyone to Asilomar State Beach in Pacific Grove, and we chilled by the rocks and tide pools, enjoying the relaxing crashing waves and fog.

On Thursday, we first headed over to the Embessy Suits in Seaside, so Scotty and I can pick up our Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca tickets.  As we pull in, we find about 8 Lambo's in the parking lot.  It was very awesome to see all those awesome cars.  There were a few other cars like a Porsche .  Once we picked up our tickets, and took photos of those awesome kick ass cars, we headed down to Cannery Row, in Monterey.  First thing we do when we get to Cannery Row is the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  It has been so long since I have been to that Aquarium, I forgot how extremely awesome it is.  We spent about 4 hours at the Aquarium, with a break for lunch in the middle, then we headed to a Cosmic Golf Field in a building just east a couple of blocks of the aquarium.  After Cosmic Golf, we walked down Cannery Row, where in fact, at one of the hotels, where sitting 6 more lambos.  One of the owners was outside at the time, and let Scotty sit in the drivers seat, and even start up the car.  Then I asked if I can sit in the passanger seat, and he let me.   Then Jane sat in the drivers seat, and following Jane, I sat in the drivers seat.  After killing another hour, we had dinner at a pizza place on cannery row, got a party pizza, 24".  After dinner, we headed to the car, and back to the hotel.

Friday was another big day.  Scotty and I went to the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Seaside for the 35th Rolex Monterey Historical Automobile Races.  While we where at the race, Jane and Vanessa went to Fishermen's Warf in Monterey.  When Scotty and I first arrived, we walked over the the Paddock, which was in the middle of the race track, where all the racer's had their cars.  There where over 100 old cars from different erras.  There where all types of cars from Farrari to Porsche to lamborghin to Fords to formula one cars.  For the first 3 hours that we where at the track, they had practice runs for all the racers.  We where able to see many different type of cars on the track.  We moved around from different turns, taking video and tons of pics.  For the last 2 practice runs and the official 2 farrari races, we stayed at the famous "Corkscrew" turn.  This was my first time to a race track, and I have to say it kicked ass.  After the races, all of us headed back to Cannery Row for some Ice Cream, then we headed back to Asilomar State Beach to have a fire on the sand.

We checked out of the hotel at 8 in the morning, and headed back home to the Inland Empire.  Of course, we drove down Highway One again, and I let Scotty drive my car, since I knew he would love to drive on that road.  Of course, we stopped in Angora Hills to visit the Farrari Dealership.  We saw a shit load of F430's and one Farrari Enzo.  We finally got home around 4:30 PM.

This was an awesome trip, and we are now ready for school, which just happens to start tomorrow   Ill have photos posted of the trip in the next few days.  The photos that are going to be posted have been taken my myself of Scotty.  I also have 4 videos of the races of the trip.  3 of the videos where taken by Scotty as well.
