Emily’s Visit to So Cal

Emily Cox, a friend of mine that lives in the state of Indiana, came out to visit and live at my place for 7 days this August.  It was an awesome and mostly needed visit, since we haven't seen each other in 2 years.  The last time was at the 2006 CA 4-H State Leadership Conference at UC San Diego.

Emily arrived on Monday August 4th, just one day after I get home from this years State Leadership Conference.  We first head over to my aunt's farm in Yucaipa to help out with a computer problem.  My cuz and I then took her on a tour of the farm, and picked some fresh tomatoes for her to eat.  Afterward, we went to chill at Scotty's house and then had dinner at In-N-Out.  We finally got home, and went to sleep.

The next day, we took the 2 hour drive down to San Diego.  First, we went to the World Famous San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park.  After the zoo, we headed downtown to Seaport Village, where we chilled for a while.  Then we went for a drive around Fiesta Island in Mission Bay.  We headed back to downtown, and chilled at the mall for a few hours.  Before we left San Diego, we headed to the Cheesecake Facotry to enjoy an awesome dinner.

The next two days, she chilled with her other friend Mark, who lives in Long Beach, while I had to go to work.  The first day, they went to disneyland, and the second they just chilled around.

On Friday, we decided to escape the heat by going up to Big Bear Lake in the Mountains.  We first drove around the lake, with a stop at the Big Bear Discovery Center on the north shore.  Then we stopped at The Village to look at all the shops.  We also had lunch at a more fancy sit down restaurant at the south end of the village.  After lunch, we drove over to Bolder Bay Park, took some pics, and enjoyed the view of Big Bear Lake, and the dam.  After the park, we headed over to the Big Bear Dam to take some more pics and more view looking.  After our adventure in Big Bear, we headed back down the mountain, but first stopped at Forest Falls, and went to the Big Falls Waterfalls.  We hiked around and took photos.

On Saturday, we first ended up going to my mom's class room.  I was dusting, while emily cleaned parts of the classrooms walls.  My mom gave us 20 bucks to spend on lunch, but our plans are to use it for dinner.  After we left my mom's classroom, we had to go to my Uncle Stan's house to help move a plasma tv onto this bedroom wall.  My uncle gave us 20 bucks for gas money.  Once again, we said hell no, we will use that for dinner.  We finally where able to head over to Rancho Cucamunga, to the Victoria Gardens mall to have Pink Berry for Lunch.  It was the best! After Pink Berry, we headed to Ontario Mills, the largest one story mall west of the Mississippi.  After some shopping, we decided to head back to Forest Falls to go swimming at the waterfalls.  So we went home to get dress and headed back up to the waterfalls.  It took us a well 30-45 mins before we acturally got fully into the water, because it was fucking cold as hell.  I swear it was around 45-50 degrees.  There was a great pool of water below one of the waterfalls, and we had to wait for some extremely fat dude to get out, but we waited.  It was awesome.  I was able to get completely in.  Emily tried, but she seemed to never get used to the cold water.  She did get to her sholders, and I am proud that she tried.  I got out to take photos of her braving the cold, then we took pics together in the water, then she was done.  I swam around for awhile, and then finally decided to get out.  We slowly headed back home to get changed, then headed back to Ontario to spead the money we earned today, we went to Benihana Japanese Food Grill place.  That was the best food we have had all week long.  This marked the end of one of the best weeks of the summer.

We had to wake up at 4:30 in the morning to get emily back to Ontario Airport for a flight at 7:15.  We finally said goodbye, and she got home back in Indiana around 4-5 her time.  I am planning to visit her for her graduation next May in Indiana if I am able too.
