Canada Part 2: Club Week

Travis and I drove to his cuz's house to pick them both up.  Then we headed off to Club Week, at a place called Olds College in the town of Old.  About 75 Km north of Calgary.  When we got to Olds, we first stopped at Subway to eat some lunch.

Before I go into details, let me explain what Club Week is about.  The week is focused mainly on yourself, improving your life, and everything that is involved with your life, for example, friends, family, and so forth.  We had lots of fun tought out the week, but there were some serious times with groups that we where split into at the beginning.  We also talked about issues in the world and how certain things effects how people live.

On the first day, we got split into out small groups.  There where 12 members in my group, and we get one of the club weeks planning staff as a group facilitator.  Everyone was extremely quite the first day.  No one really talked.  One or two people would, but the rest of us didn't.  After our frist group meeting.  We took the group photo, then got a secret friend.  We each get assigned a secret friend, then in which we are supposed to do something nice to everyday.  My friend had people give me hugs, sang songs to me during supper (canadian for dinner) and i got some small cool gifts.   My secret friend's name was Luke.   After the secret friend thing, we signed up to be on planning committee's.  I was on the Talent Show Committee.  It was alot of fun.  We had a "camp fire" and sang songs for the rest of the night.  At the end of each day and in the beginning, we have to lay on the gym floor, and they turn off the lights and they play the theme song, which is The Bridge, by Elton John.  After the song, some people say some insperational things, then the lights come on and we have to write deep thoughts in our books of what we are feeling and so forth.

The second day was really cool.  We talked about how the pop culture is shaping the world and setting good and bad examples to our society.  For the time we had to pick a sport...we all went to frezbee....of course, it turned out to be one big water fight, with non pottable water, which we didn't know that till afterwards.  But it was still fun.  We had some guess speakers that suffer from physical disabilites, and how they copped with it for their entire life.  The third day was awesome, i learned alot about canada as a country.  We had more small group meetings and that afternoon we had the mini olymipics.  Which our group won....OH YEAH!!!!! THat night was the masquerade dance, which was alot of fun.  By this time.  Our small group started to open up alot, and started talking more and more and getting deeper and deeper in conversations.

Day 4 was cool. We had some communication things, and also talked about friends, and family in our small groups.  That night was the Wild West BBQ, and I that was cool...we also had an auction to get cool things.  Then we had the country fair fun thing, then the talet show....i was called up and they put a blanket over me....they said i had to take things off, in order to save my life.  So first i took off the shoes...take in mind, this is in front of 130 people.....then socks....then i took off my belt, and ring, and other stuff....before i headed off to the pants, i got the entire hint....all I had to do is take off the blanket...it was alot of fun.

The next day was all about self awarness in the groups.  We had a formal banquet that night ,then a dance...then a candle light ceremony.  WE had to go find our secret friend and blow out their candles...this is where we revealed our selfs to the secret friends.  The last day, was a very emotional day for everyone.  In our small group, we built strong relationships, with all the very deep conversations we have had.  We had our own type of thing to say good bye and so forth...and I almost cried in front of everyone, because it was that emotionaly strong.

My roommates name was Cole, he was really cool...we would talk most of the night learning from each other on the 4-H programs and each other's country.

The last things we did as a group is to pass around our books for everone to write why we are important.  I didn't read it till I was on the air plane home.  and that did it.  I cried, and I did alot.  I was really upset that I have to leave all these awesome people, and come back to the states.  Thank god there is the internet...woot.

Well....that was the canadian trip in a nut shell....it goes way more deep...but i just don't want to write about it all because my one finger is still in a little bit of pain...i jamed in playing basket ball up there....yup...there are tons of pics that you can see from the trip
