Goodbye 2012

Today is the last day of 2012.  2012 was one busy year, and has been filled with many different experiences.  Because of how busy the year was, I wasn't able to keep up with blogging about some of those experiences.  So with this post, I am just going to list things I have attended that I wasn't able to blog about, but wanted to keep a record of the things I have done.   For the month of August, I was at the 2012 State 4-H Leadership Conference at San Diego from Aug. 9 to 12.  August 17-19, I went with Scotty's family to their place at the Parker Strip of the Colorado River.  On Aug. 28, I went hiking with Jane and a few of her friends to Slushy Meadows in the San Gorgonio Wilderness in the San Bernardino National Forest.  The month of August ended with another trip to the river, from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.   In September, on the 30th, I was at Laguna Beach for Scotty's grandma's birthday.  Also attended a Mystery Dinner in Redlands on the 27th.   In October, two

A Day in Avalon on Catalina

I turned 25 years old this month.  When my birthday comes around, it normally means nothing to big.  For the family, I choose any restaurant and we all go out to eat.  For the friends, we normally just hang out as usual.  This year, things were different.  I was bored at home as winter break started.  I have the tendency to have a major urge to travel and/or have some kind of adventure when at home bored.  At times I even look around on Google Maps to look at places I wish I could travel to.  That is when I thought of doing something different for my birthday.  Instead of asking for gifts, and going out to dinner; I chose to ask for a trip to a place that I have yet to travel to.  Santa Catalina Island.  I told my mom and she seemed interested.  My dad did like the idea, but he was worried about how much it would cost.  In the end, we went to Avalon, the only city on the island, on December 22.  One week after my birthday on the 15th.  Why?  My dad had to work on my birthday weeke

Car Hit by Old Lady

This morning, while my mom and I were leaving our Walmart, an old lady hit the bumper of my car. It was just a small hit, and it could of been a lot worse if we were not there to see her hit the car. We went shopping for a few items, and I had to drive because my mom's car battery dead. After we checked out, and was walking to my car, a person in a new Catilac started to turn to park next to my car. Instead of making a wide turn I to the parking spot, the person took a narrow turn to park. As the car was turning, we noticed it was an old lady, and we knew she wasn't going to make it. She realized that she wasn't going to make it. She pulled out of the spot in attempts to fix the error. She had failed. She started to pull back into the parking spot, but at a steaper angle. My mom said she was going to hit my car. I had faith that she would notice the issue and fix it. A few moments later, we heard a small noise and my car shaking. She hit my back bumper on the

A Quarter of a Century

As of today, I have lived a quarter of a century.  I turn 25 years old.  Is my life where I expected it at this point of time?  Nope.  In reality, how many people are in the place they expected at a certain age?  If you would of asked be at age 18, when I had graduated high school, where I see myself at the age 25, my answer would be quite different from how my life is today.      At the time of graduating high school, I would say that at the age of 25, I would be newly out of college, getting into the career that I dreamed of, living on my own with my best friends as my roommates, being a 4-H volunteer and having quite a few awesome adventures.  If you follow my blog posts or know where I currently am, I believe my 18 year old self would be disappointed.  I am still in college, with no true answer to when I will be graduating, still living with my parents, and currently have no job.  I do have some many adventures and I am a 4-H leader, so those things are true.  The big questi

2012 State Leaders' Forum at Asilomar

It is that time of year again, where I travel down up to Asilomar Conference Grounds and State Beach at Pacific Grove on the Monterey Peninsula for the 2012 California 4-H State Leaders' Forum.  This year I am going once again as the Team Logistics Leader for the California 4-H Technology Leadership Team (TLT) and as the Secretary to the CA 4-H South Section Leaders' Council.  The forum happened from Friday, Nov. 9 to 11, 2012.   Friday, November 9, 2012 This year, I flew up to San Jose, and let our TLT adviser, Steven, pick me up.  I arrived at the San Jose Airport at 10:00.  Neal, a TLT member from San Diego, had arrived a little sooner than me, and was waiting for me at the baggage claim.  I met up with him, and we waiting for our ride.  A local TLT member, Matthew, was dropped off at the airport to meet us, so he could also join in our ride down to Asilomar.  He were picked up by Steven.  Daniel, a TLT member and someone I consider a close friend, was with him
