Memorial Day Weekend: Amanda's Visit

Image
My cousing, Amanda, who graduated from Army Boot Camp in Missouri last month and is now at Ft. Huchuca, Arizona, came out to visit the family for Memorial Day Weekend.  She arrived in Ontario in the early afternoon, while I was still in the Imperial Valley for Matthew's Graduation.  I decided that I would leave Imperial Valley at 4:30PM to get to Yucaipa around 7:00 PM.  When I got to Mecca (Town on the north west shores of the Salton Sea), I got a call asking if I could pick things yup to have smores.  I got into Yucaipa at 7:00, stopped off at Vons, then headed to the farm.           We all chilled and had a great BBQ dinner in the patio.  After dinner, and clean up the table a bit, we chilled in the nice June evening, and prepared the fire pit to light a fire.  It took us forever to get the fire going, but I was successful  .  We let the fire burn for a little bit, then broke out the stuff for smores.  Amanda really wanted smores since she will be unable to have any at Yosemit

Matthew's Graduation/ Imperial Valley Trip

On Thursday, I took the 150 mile drive south to the Imperial Valley (The Salton Sea Area and south to Mexico) for one of my best friends, Matthew Smith, college graduation.         I left the house at 8:30 am with the goal of arriving at 11:00, meeting Matthew at the county airport.  As I was driving down, I had to be apart of a work conference call about having military youth at different 4-H summer camps.  I arrived at the Imperial County Airport 20 mins before 11:00, earlier then what the directions claimed it would take me.  I figure it was due to the fact i cruised at 80 MPH when i got on the 86 South, for there where no cars on the road for miles, so it was nice to go a speed I wanted to go.  As my conference call ended, Matthew arrived.  I have to say it was a little strange to see Matthew drive up in an Oldsmobile Achieva, which just happens to be the same car I had as my first.  Luckily for him, he had one of the last models that where produced, compared to me who had the fi

The right path?

Ever since 11th grade, I have fallen in love with environmental science.  It was that year of high school that i decided I would like to become an enviromental scientist as a career.  Later on in the 12th grade year, i decided to add on getting a maters degree in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), so that I can use that technology to help out the environment.  Three years have come since graduating from high school, and now that im going to school, i just took classes that i knew i needed to transfer to UC Riverside.  Now, im not too sure if i should continue down that path to be an environmentalist.  Many things have happened over the past three years since high school, in which change how i view myself, and what i should be doing on this planet.      Within the past two months, I have started to think about my life, and realized that the things i love and do well in today is photography, computers, event planing and facilitating, public speaking, teaching, and helping others.

Ford Park Friend BBQ

Jane, Nate, Scotty, Rebekah, and I had a bbq at Ford Park in Redlands, California on Wednesday of last week.  I was bored at work one day, and realized that we havn't all chilled in awhile, so i came up with the idea to have a bbq.  Everyone else loved the idea, and I was lucky enough to find a date where most of everyone invited was able to make it.  Sadly, Vanessa wasn't able to make it due to a presentation she had to give that night in class. I was the first to arrive, I claimed a table and a BBQ, which i chose to have it at the top of the hill, for we had a view of the play ground area to the east, and to the west have the view of the two lakes located in the park.  Jane and Nate brought Chips and Dip, one of the dips was a bacon dip that nate and jane made the night before, and that was some really good dip.  They also brought things that people could place on their burgers like pickles and tomatoes.  Scotty arrived shortly after, and he brought drinks.  Rebekah arrived
