Jane's Bday Weekend at Vegas

Jane always has to have a big birthday event every year.  She has had a few birthday's in Vegas with her co-worker friends.  I was never able to go do to money and/or other commitments/school.  This year, she pushed and pushed for me to go, even though I really had no money to afford a trip to Vegas.  She even threatened to not talk to me for quite awhile if I did not go.  I gave in to peer pressure, and I went for the weekend.  Of course, it is hard to predict what events can occur when going to Vegas.  I went up to Vegas for Jane's birthday from Friday, September 20 to Sunday, September 22.

I was bored, and wanted to avoid the Friday Vegas traffic, so I drove on up before the others planned to be there.  Jane has a co-worker that has access to a time share, and it was planned for us to stay at that time share.  At first, it was thought the time share was at the Tropicana Hotel on the Vegas Strip, so that was where I headed.  As I arrived at the hotel, Jane had left, so I had roughly three hours to kill.  I just began walking up the strip.  I made it up to Ceasar's Palace before I began to head back to the car.  Around that time, I received a call from Jane saying there was confusion, and we are staying roughly one mile down the road on Tropicana Ave west of the strip, at the Wyndham WorldMark Time Share location, which made more sense.  I got bored.  Not real much fun to be on the Vegas strip alone, so I worked my way back to the hotel where I just sat around waiting for the call they arrived.  I finally got the call, and I headed over.  When I got there, Jane, her co-worker and her husband, Jane's brother, and Jane's friend Niki were there.  We got settled in and began to make plans for the night.

We chilled at the time share while the girls got ready.  They took forever, so those of us who were waiting began drinking.  They took so long to finally get ready, we did not get ready to leave the strip until 11:30 pm.  We hoped to catch the last shuttle from the time share to the strip.  We sat there a good 30 mins, and a few beers later, decided to call a cab.  We started off at the Excalibur.  Closest spot to the time share, which makes the cheapest cab ride, and we slowly worked our way up the strip.  Anytime we had our hands empty, we stopped to get another drink.  It was not long until we were drunk.  Jane enjoys going to clubs, and her goal was to go to a club that night.  For those who don't know me well, I do not dance, and the club would be way outside of my comfort zone.  Normally I would try to stop us from going to a club, but since it was Jane's birthday, I withheld.   We kept getting distracted, so it took longer to find a club than normal.  We found ourselves at a club called Senor Frogs, located at Treasure Island.  It was free for entry, so we took it.  The crowd was a normal sized crowd.  On the dance floor, I mainly stood close to our group while just kinda bouncing up and down attempting to dance.  To me, I just don't find dancing entertaining.  I don't like watching dancing, and I don't seem to like attempting to dance myself.  Even when drunk.  I prefer just hanging out and drinking.  I did get as far as a very small moment of bumping and grinding, but it was just for a spare moment.   Sadly, Jane had photographic evidence somewhere that this occurred. The fun was not from the dancing.  That part was terrible, but enjoying the company of our group made the night a good one.  Usually, when hanging with Jane and her co-worker friends, I tend to be the odd one out, and out of the loop.    After awhile, we left the club, and we got a cab.  We got back to the time share around 5:00 am.  We all passed out.  I had slept on the couch.

The morning was your standard type of morning after a night of drinking and being drunk.  I woke up around 9:30, a little hung over.  My stomach ached a little and I felt tired.  Nothing too bad.  I was the first to be awake.  Everyone else was passed out.  I wouldn't see anyone until around 11:00.  The husband of Jane's co-worker is an amazing cook, and cooked all of us an amazing breakfast of eggs, potatoes, and toast.  It was our lunch.  Amazing how breakfast food can make a hangover feel better.  After food, we just laid around some more, then we hit the time share pool.  We spent most of the afternoon in the pool, just hanging out and drinking beer.  I was perfectly content with this, and almost not liking the idea of another full night on the strip.  After spending around 4 hours at the pool, we headed back to the time share, and we all took naps while we waiting for more people to arrive.  Nike left, and Scotty, his brother Bryan and Byran's wife Randi were on their way to join us in Jane's bday weekend.

They arrived around 8 pm, and were ready to hit the strip.  But first, we had to wait for the girls to get ready.  Unlike the night before, they took way less time to get ready.  We were early enough to catch the free shuttle to Caeser's Palace.  As we were leaving, a few people began joking around about me being a virgin, and how they were fully focused on getting me to lose my virginity that night.  I tend to have a thick skin towards these types of things, and I just play along, but they constantly pushed and pushed the topic.  The main instigator was Bryan.  After awhile, It began to bug me quite a bit.  It went to far, towards where it felt I was being made fun of for being a virgin instead of just a normal joking around.  It put me in a down mood.  I felt as if something was wrong with me.  Everyone there was no virgin, and here I am that has not been that lucky.  I felt as if no one would care or like me enough to have sex with me, and I would have to find someone desperate just to lose it.  I was worried they were going to spend the night trying to find some random chick for me to fuck, and even though I am super duper sexually frustrated 24/7, this is not the way I want to lose my virginity.  I want it to at least mean something, and not just pointless sex.  As we got to Caesar's, they stopped and focused more on getting our first drinks.  As we began walking around, and figuring out what to do, they kept making jokes and looking for chicks for me to fuck.  I tended to ignore them.  I wasn't focusing on chicks.  I was focusing on the lights and just the awesome casinos we were walking by.  Jane really wanted to go do another night of dancing.  I was not looking forward to dancing.  Since we spent the night before dancing, I tried to convince them to go explore other parts of the strip.

After an hour of debate of where to go, we ended up back at the same club we were at the night before.  Senor Frogs in Treasure Island.  Unlike the night before, it was packed.  They also were charging a entry fee and the drink prices had gone up.  I was not looking forward to it.  Most of the time the couples of the group stayed together to party, and Jane danced more with her co-worker friends and brother.  Her brother went off to dance with random chicks, Scotty danced on is own doing crazy moves, and I mostly stood there doing a basic bouncing movement looking as if I was dancing.  The DJ was terrible.  He would switch the songs every 20 seconds, which did not give you enough time to enjoy the song.  Scotty got annoyed with the DJ, and wanted to move to a new club or continue walking down the strip.  A few hours had passed, and we all left for a bathroom break.  After everyone was finished, a few of us were trying to push to leave and go a few different things.  Jane did not want to leave, and those who did not care what we did sided more with her.  Scotty and I were the ones who were really pushing to go do something different.  In the end, we ended up going back to the club.  Jane will regret making this decision an hour later.

It was 2:30 am.  We were all drunk.  Everyone was dancing.  I was hoping for them to get tired and want to leave.  I was in the back of the group on the dance floor, while Jane was in front of me, her brother to the left, and Scotty near her brother.  A song called "I Love it" began playing, and the crowd was jumping up and down with their fists in the air.  Mainly during the lyrics "I Don't Care".  During those lyrics, Jane was jumping up and down, and she ended up collapsing.  As first I thought she just fell, and that she was going to get up any moment.  Instead, she was holding her ankle, and a random chick was at her level.  At that time, her brother came into the picture to see what happened.  It seemed that she was hurt.  Bryan and Randi had just came back from the bathroom, and when Bryan saw her on the floor, he pushed everyone away to go to her aid.  It was way to loud to even hear her.  It was apparent that she could not walk.  Her brother and Bryan picked her up, and took her out of the club.  As we were getting out of the club, security was waiting at the entrance with a wheel chair.  It seems they have undercover security agents in the club, and knew about the situation before we even knew there was a situation.  We headed to the main entrance of the casino, and went to get a taxi.  We had to take two taxi's because our group was too large.  It was determind that Jane and her brother must go together.  It was also decided that Scotty and I were to go with Jane, for we were her best friends that she considers more family than friends.  Bryan and Randi would meet us at the Hospital.

The taxi took us to the Sunrise Hospital.  During the ride, Jane cried while the three of us tried to comfort her.  The ride seem to take forever.  The taxi driver did not seem to rush even with Jane being in pain.  We finally arrived at the emergency room entrance.  Bryan and Randi had beaten us there, and had a wheel chair waiting.  That pissed us off that the second taxi beat the first taxi with the hurt person in it.  The emergency room was quite quiet, until we arrived.  We walked in.  Jane was yelling and cursing in pain, and the rest of us was still drunk and kinda loud.  We checked Jane in and waiting.  Because Jane remained loud and kept cursing, they decided to take her in ahead of other people because she was disturbing those who were in pain and waiting.  Jane and her brother went in while the rest of us sat in the emergency room.  We rarely got any updates, and it drove us nuts that we could not be with Jane.  We were glad her brother was here, for dealing with the medical information should be easy with him here.  We waiting in the waiting room for 3 hours.  The longest 3 hours of our lives.  We were drunk, and we were getting sober.  We were tired.  Randi and Bryan ended up falling asleep.  Scotty and I could not sleep.  We were worried about Jane.  We were sobering up, and the hangovers began to kick in.  Scotty went for a walk outside.  I considered joining him, but it seemed like he needed to be a lone for a little bit.

Finally, around 6 am, she was discharged.  They told her that she had two fractures in her ankle, and that they were not official breaks.  She would have to get it more checked out when she gets home.  We called some taxis, and we planned to go to a Denny's just a block away from the time share.  Jane hated the idea of breakfast.  She just wanted to go home and sleep.  We refused to listen to her.  We were starving, and needed it.  On the ride to Denny's, the sky began to fill with a bright Orange Glow as the sun was rising.  To the east of the taxi was the strip, with the casinos fully lite.  It was quite a beautiful site.  Sadly, I was unable to get a photograph before buildings blocked the view.  We got to Denny's, and we ordered our food.  The meal was mostly quiet.  It felt as if we had survived from a major ordeal.  We were all exhausted, and now experiencing hangovers.  Then the topic of finding me a girl came up again.  I was nowhere near the mood.  They were looking through the stripper/escort cards they collected and asking me which ones I thought where hot.  I was tired, exhausted.  I was shaking, and can barley function.  Jane's brother decided to pick a girl and call them for a price.  He began giving the address where we were located.  I fought to stop him.  I was not interested, and I took it very seriously.  Jane and a few others convinced him to stop, and that had ended that ordeal.  It had been a very long time since I have felt that joking around about me got pushed too far, and it effected me deeply.  We got back to the timeshare, and we all passed out.

I had only slept for about two hours when I woke up.  It was not that comfortable sleeping on the floor.  Jane's meds began to ware off, and she began texting me.  I offered some advil that I had.  She took some.  An hour later, nothing improved.  She got in more pain.  Jane's brother came out to talk to me and wanted me to go back to the emergency room to ask about pain pills.  They did not see a written prescription given with her discharge papers.  I was feeling extremely exhausted and my stomach was in rough shape.  Bright light even hurt my eyes.  I was in no condition to drive, or I figured I was not.  Since I was dressed, and he was in his underwear, he felt I had to go and get them.  Instead of fighting with him, I decided to take the 20 min drive back to the hospital.  It was the worst drive in my life.  With every turn, my stomach turned.  I felt like crap.  Jane is lucky she is one of my best friends and that I would do anything for her.  I got to the hospital, and talked to the desk people.  They were confused as to why I did not have details on the pain meds.  I showed them the discharge papers, and it seemed the prescription scrip was on the last page.  I felt embarrassed and super annoyed.  There was a walgreens right next to the Denny's we ate a few hours ago.  We could of got the meds from there instead of driving all the way to the other side of the city.  There was a walgreens right next to the hospital, so I figured I would go there to get the meds.  Hoped it would be speedy.  I submitted it, and it was going to take 2 hours for it to be filled.  There was no way I was going to wait that long, so I drove all the way back to the time share, talked to Jane, then went back to crash for awhile.  I couldn't really get much sleep at this point.  Everyone else was passed out.  Two hours later, I had to go right back to the walgreens way on the other side of the city to get her meds.  Scotty was awake, and went with me this time so we can buy a few things for lunch.

We got back, gave Jane her pills, and I sat around to rest more.  The rest of the day we sat around and rested.  Not the day we wanted to have, but a think like this can change everything.  I had to leave to go home, for the next day was school.  Bryan and Randi rode with me home.  We stopped in Barstow for dinner.  Scotty, Jane, her brother, and co-worker would stay till the next day.  Got home around 9:00 pm.  Passed out right away.

Update:  Jane went to her doctor.  She had broken her ankle in two places, and broke a bone up in her leg.  We figure two things caused the break.  If you read a past blog post about a hike Jane and I went on where we got caught in a thunderstorm a few weeks ago, you will know that Jane rolled her ankle at the beginning of the hike.  A lot of pressure was added to that ankle that day.  It is possible that could of been the reason why she broke her bones this badly from just a simple jump.  Second, she was wearing heals, and the dance floor was sticky with alcohol.  As she jumped, the heal stuck to the floor, and caused her to land wrong which caused the break.  She had to have surgery.  She got a metal plate in her leg, and three screws in her ankle.  She will have those in the rest of her life.  She was out of work for a few months and when we could, Scotty and I would help her out with things.  She went back to work in January.
