Backyard Disgrace

Image
This afternoon was beautiful.  The sky was clear, the birds were chirping, and it was 70 degrees.  It is the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors.  I was alone for dinner, so I had decided to bbq some chicken breasts to soak up what was left of the day.  After I had placed the chicken breasts onto the bbq, I stood around to absorb the environment.  It gave me time to look around, and to think about the condition of our backyard.      Since we moved in during the spring of 1999, we have not had a good backyard.  Our backyard had remained to be an area for storing what I consider junk (because it has laid there with no purpose of usage in over a year(s)), home to our dog named Rice (Dalmatian that died within a year after moving to this house), a storage shed,  fruit trees, a vegetable/herb garden, and a bunch of dirt.  The plan was never to keep the backyard the way it is today when we moved in.       Back when we moved in, the plan was to remove the current patio and sidewalk th

Lent Begins

For those who don't know, I was raised a Roman Catholic.  Now I don't practice the majority of the Catholic religion today, but there are a few things that I do.  In the past few years, I have started back up in participating in lent in that I would give up something for lent.  Tend to eat fish on Friday for dinner, but still eat meat during the day.  The most successful lent for me to give something up was French Fries, which was two years ago.  This year, I wasn't too sure what to give up, until the thought came to me of something I seem to spend a good amount of free time doing instead of other, more important things.  Porn.            Yes, I will admit, I look at porn online.  To be honest, what college aged guy has not looked at porn?  Even the guys who say they don't, has or will look at porn.  It makes things so easy with having so much access to free porn online.  At the moment, I seem to look at porn at least once a day.  Why?  Not always for self sexual

A Santa Barbara Weekend

This year the California 4-H Technology Team received a $10,000 grant from Best Buy.  This grant is to help educate youth in technology fields that can jump start their interest into getting a career in that field.  We used the grant money to hold multiple state wide film production trainings.  The goal of the trainings are for the youth to learn the basics of film production from story boarding  filming, and the edition process.  The first training was help on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Santa Barbara County 4-H Office.  I had volunteered to be one of the members to run the training, since I was the closest.  Steven Worker (team adviser) and I had held the training, and it went real well.  Originally, I was to wake up extremely early, drive the 2 hr 30 min drive, do the training, then drive right back home.  What sounded like a good idea at first, changed into a three day trip to Santa Barbara with my parents.  They were free, and I offered for them to go up to have a good

An Act of Kindness

I woke up this morning not looking foreward to going to school. The thought had crossed my mind of ditching the class. Because of there being a dark past of me ditching, which I have been slowly recovering from, I choose to go to school. I got out of bed, went downstairs to obtain breakfast. We had nothing. No good milk, no good bread, eta. I decided to leave early to school, and stop off at the Starbucks before heading to class. The drive thru line wasn't as long as it normally is. Got to order right away. While waiting, I felt that I was going to dread the day. I pulled up to the pick up window, and pulled out my Starbucks gift cards. The guy handed me my coffee and said there was no need to pay, for the lady in front if me paid for my order. I was shocked. That changed my mood in an instant. I had this sense of wanting to know who this person was to give them a big thank you. I took the order and headed off. While driving onto the freeway, I began to to think how
