The Storms and Flooding of Highland

Image
Most of California has experienced almost an entire week of non-stop rain, about 5 1/2 days of rain, and Highland, the city I live in, was the hardest hit.  For most of the time during this storm, I was very upset, for many of my birthday plans and holiday plans had been postponed or canceled due to the rain.  As of now, I might still be disappointed about my plans being ruined, but I am now thankful that my house, the houses of friends, and other family members were not effected by the floods that took place here today.  I do feel really bad for the 100 people or so who lost their homes in highland to flood waters and mud left behind.  Their holidays have been ruined, along with many of their possessions.      The first of the storm hit on Friday.  When I saw the rain, I got extremely upset, for I knew this meant I would not be going paintballing with my cousin Krystal and her fiance John on Sunday in Colton.  Later on that day, I started not feeling well, and ended up with a

Getting the Chance to Move on

On Wednesday, Dec. 8, I received an e-mail from the California State University of San Bernardino.  I have officially been accepted to the Fall 2011 Quarter.  This is some really good news.  This good news seemed to have taken forever to get to me.  It is about time I get this chance to move on, because I am really starting to get sick and tired of Crafton Hills College.  Yes I like the campus, but 4 years there tends to get tiring.  I kinda feel bad that I have been at a community college for 4 years, but what matters is that I am still in school, and getting closer to my degree.  In order for me to get to register for Fall 2011 at CSUSB, I will have to pass all my classes this semester and next semester.  I think I will be good for this semester.  I will have to work my ass off next semester to really make sure I can pass the classes.  I am really not looking forward to Economics Class :(

Tough Times Ahead

I am sitting here at my computer realizing that things are going to be very tough this next month of December.  For those who don't know, since October, I have only gotten 8 hours of work a month, so as of today I have only worked 16 hours in the past two months.  Its very hard for I use way more money than I am making for gas and food alone.  Now I just paid for my spring semester of college, which maxed out my credit card, and I have no money in the bank.  Lucky my parents are going to help me pay for school, but it makes me feel real bad that I now have to start asking for money again.  It has been 4 years since I have really needed to ask for money to help with things like school.      I am currently looking for a second job, but all I can see that is available is seasonal holiday work, so once the holidays are over, I would get fired.  My parents suggest that I wait till after the holidays and try to find a job.  It sucks because I so want to be able to afford to get gi

My 4-H Story Written 2010 about 2005-2006 4-H year Age: 18 (At time these events took place)  Year in 4-H: 12      You probably have noticed that I stated this was written in 2010.  Yes, this had been written for this blog series.  The 4-H Motto is learn by doing.  With the 12 years of being a member, I have learned many of my skills by doing many different things.  This last year in 4-H as a member will have taught me something very important that I shall remember for the rest of my life.  I had learned that is it more important to be involved in a few things, and do them well rather than try to do everything and not being able to do a great job on your work.  If you take a look at my last blog post, you will notice that I was running around crazy, and I know that there are things not even mentioned in that story because I had no room to try to place it in there.  By the time summer of 2006 came around, I started to break down and almost fully quite out of the 4-H program, but I deci

Note from John, 10/29/10-  This is the last official 4-H Story that I have written in my record book.  I was in 4-H in the 2005-2006 year, but I became so overwhelmed with stuff that I had no time to even work on my record book.  My next post after this one will be me writing about that year and what would have been that 4-H Story with a few more things added.  This is the second to last posting of the My 4-H Story Series in my blog.  Enjoy.   You can read the rest of my blog posts about My 4-H Story all the way back to 1995.  Just visit  http://johntrammell.blogspot.com/ My 4-H Story Written 2005 Age: 17 Year in 4-H: 11      I am not ready for this 4-H year to end.  I have had so much fun doing so many different things.  Hello, my name is John Trammell.  I am a member of East Valley 4-H Club and have been in 4-H for 11 years.  I can hardly believe that next year is going to be my last year.  Where did the time go?      This has been a year where I did a lot of traveling by planes,

My 4-H Story Written 2004 Age: 16 Year in 4-H: 10      Wow, I have been in 4-H for 10 years.  That's amazing!  The other amazing thing is how fast this year has gone by.  I have learned so much and met many people while gaining many new friends.      Hi. My name is John Trammell.  I am sixteen years old and have been a San Bernardino County All-Star for one year now.  I was also the president of our club and I had a good time working with the club members.        How did I get in to 4-H you may wonder.  Well, my dad, Steve, was in 4-H when he was a youth and he wanted me to join so I could learn life skills, leadership skills, and citizenship skills so that I can grow into a contributing member of our society.  Now on the other side, my mom, Rozie,, had to learn right along with me what 4-H is about because she has never heard of it before.  After one year my mom became the leader of Arroyo Verde Club which is call East Valley 4-H today.  Three years after I had joined, my siste
