Hike to Heart Rock

Image
June 1, 2011  Many times, my friends and I like to travel into the mountains, to explore, hang out, and to cool down from the hot summer heat.  One of the most popular places to visit has been the Big Falls, in Forest Falls.  I had an idea to take some of my friends to a new place, a place that they have never heard of.  This place, I had learned from being at the Los Angeles/San Bernardino County 4-H Summer Camp at Camp Seeley in Crestline.  This place would be a natural swimming hole, and Heart Rock, located on Seeley Creek.  In the end, my friends Jane and Tricia went on the hike with me. We drove up to the Seeley Creek Trail Head.  It can be difficult to find to those who have not been there before.  You drive up the 18, then take the 138 towards Crestline.  You want to continue on the 138, and not go into the town of Crestline.  On the 138, you will grive into the valley of enchantment, which is the back side of Crestline.  On the left hand side, you will see a large sign that s

Return to San Francisco

Image
May 29, 2011 We had decided about a month ago, that we would go to San Francisco for a day after State Field Day, and mainly because my dad wanted to go after he heard about Sarah's and my trip back in April.  This time around, we decided not to drive into the city, for we were expecting it would be a zoo since it was a holiday weekend.  We drove down to  the city of Concord, where we took the BART into downtown San Francisco.  For those who don't know, the BART is a train system in the bay area.  We got our tickets, we got on the train, and took the almost hour ride into the city.  I just kept looking out the window looking at the bay area cities, Sarah read her book, my sister was listening to her music, and my dad just was chillin. We arrived into the city, we got off at the Powell St/Market St. Station.  This just happened to be the location of one of the turntables for the historic Trolley Cars.  The plan was to take the trolley car to China Town.  After we explore Chi

2011 State 4-H Field Day/ Second Annual CA 4-H Photography Contest

May 27-28, 2011  It was that time of year again to travel up to UC Davis for the CA 4-H State Field Day.  Just like last year, I held the second annual California 4-H Photography Contest.  Unlike last year, this year would be much better, and would run mostly smooth.  On the 27th, My sister, dad, and I drove on up to Sacramento to get to State Field Day.  We drove my car, and I was the driver.  The less my dad drove the better, for he drives 65 all the way up, which would add over an hour to our trip.  I needed to get up there so we can prepare things at the State 4-H Office and get out of their as soon as possible.  We arrived at the State 4-H Office at UC Davis around 3:30 pm.  Mary Ann and the Imperial county gang were already there preparing.  All I had to do is prepare the award certificates, make sure we had all the supplies we needed, and talk to my adviser for the tech team, Steven Worker.  There was a little tense in the building, for our county adviser was there, which was

Summer's Beginnings

Below are two blog posts in one, talking about the beginnings of my Summer break. May 20, 2011:  San Diego Work Trip      A few days after school was out, I had a trip down to downtown San Diego for work.  The California National Guard was having a large conference at the San Diego Bayfront Hilton Hotel, right next to the Convention Center.  Originally, I was supposed to drive down at 5:30 am in the morning to get to the event, but I was able to drive down the night before and stay in a hotel in Hotel Circle.  I got to the hotel, and hundreds of uniform military personal was all over the place.  I had thought this was just a youth event, and not an entire Cal Guard conference.  I found were I was supposed to be, and we began the event.  My job was to help the youth film and put together a 5 min video about the life of a military child.  We walked around the convention center area, on the water front, to film some of the video.  We also asked general public to interview us about w

Once We Were The Three Best Friends

I know I haven't written a blog in a while, mainly because I have been super busy (Don't worry, I am working on writing one that will give you an update); but tonight I have somethings in my mind and I just need to let them out, so this is going to be somewhat of a rant blog.      For those who know me, and have followed the major details of my life, you will know that I have a handful of friends I consider my best friends, close enough to be family, and they are a major impact on my life, even if they don't realize it.  Some live far away, and others live right here in the same city as me.  Out of my handful of best friends, there were two of them that I consider the two most important people in my life.  Jane and Scotty.  We had become friends back in our sophomore year of high school, and in the past 5 years, our friendships have grown to a point to were it seems that nothing can split the three of us apart.  We had been through a lot together, and that created an
