Spring Break 2013

Image
Spring break this year was March 23-31.  Plans didn't work out the way they were originally planned, but things went extremely well.  Originally, I was to be traveling to the Grand Canyon with Jane, her boyfriend, and another one of her friends.  That had gotten canceled.  Jane had learned her boyfriend has been cheating on her, and their relationship had ended.  I hate having things like this happen because I lost $10.00 when canceling the camping reservation, but I got over it.  A day after Jane and I had made the plans for the Grand Canyon, my cousin Amanda had asked if I was interested in going to Death Valley for my spring break to photograph star trails.  Since the trip had gotten canceled, I talked to Amanda, and we had started making plans for Death Valley.  Not a bad plan B.  Of course, this plan would not last long.  The weather was perfect, we knew where we where planning on taking photographs, and where we...

Late Winter Yosemite Weekend

Image
Over the weekend of March 8th, I had traveled to Yosemite National Park with my parents for a small mini vacation.  My mom is a teacher, and was on spring break.  It seems that each year, when she has spring break, my parents plan a trip.  Since I had transferred over to CSUSB, my spring break is not at the same time as my mom's school district's spring break.  This meant that my sister and I was unable to join them.  Two years ago, the parents traveled to Maine, and New Mexico last year.  This year my dad had found a good groupon deal for a two night stay at a loft condominium for Yosemite that had to be used between January and March 31.  After I pushed him to buy the deal, we had set the trip dates and I pushed for a weekend I was able to go.  With this, we went to Yosemite from Friday March 8 to Sunday March 10 (with a stay in Merced on Thursday March 7).  The trip was exactly what I needed, to get me a way f...

Backyard Disgrace

Image
This afternoon was beautiful.  The sky was clear, the birds were chirping, and it was 70 degrees.  It is the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors.  I was alone for dinner, so I had decided to bbq some chicken breasts to soak up what was left of the day.  After I had placed the chicken breasts onto the bbq, I stood around to absorb the environment.  It gave me time to look around, and to think about the condition of our backyard.      Since we moved in during the spring of 1999, we have not had a good backyard.  Our backyard had remained to be an area for storing what I consider junk (because it has laid there with no purpose of usage in over a year(s)), home to our dog named Rice (Dalmatian that died within a year after moving to this house), a storage shed,  fruit trees, a vegetable/herb garden, and a bunch of dirt.  The plan was never to keep the backyard the way it is today when we moved in. ...

Lent Begins

For those who don't know, I was raised a Roman Catholic.  Now I don't practice the majority of the Catholic religion today, but there are a few things that I do.  In the past few years, I have started back up in participating in lent in that I would give up something for lent.  Tend to eat fish on Friday for dinner, but still eat meat during the day.  The most successful lent for me to give something up was French Fries, which was two years ago.  This year, I wasn't too sure what to give up, until the thought came to me of something I seem to spend a good amount of free time doing instead of other, more important things.  Porn.            Yes, I will admit, I look at porn online.  To be honest, what college aged guy has not looked at porn?  Even the guys who say they don't, has or will look at porn.  It makes things so easy with having so much access to free porn online.  At the moment,...

A Santa Barbara Weekend

Image
This year the California 4-H Technology Team received a $10,000 grant from Best Buy.  This grant is to help educate youth in technology fields that can jump start their interest into getting a career in that field.  We used the grant money to hold multiple state wide film production trainings.  The goal of the trainings are for the youth to learn the basics of film production from story boarding  filming, and the edition process.  The first training was help on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Santa Barbara County 4-H Office.  I had volunteered to be one of the members to run the training, since I was the closest.  Steven Worker (team adviser) and I had held the training, and it went real well.  Originally, I was to wake up extremely early, drive the 2 hr 30 min drive, do the training, then drive right back home.  What sounded like a good idea at first, changed into a three day trip to Santa Barbara w...
